ANTHROPOCENE is a term for the age of humanity, when mankinds impact on the planet creates a tangible mark on the fossil record. This project is an examination of the rapidly changing environment of this new era.

I was inspired by the film Koyaansqatsi, an experimental film from the 80s, made up entirely of shots of urban environments, crowd scenes, and technology. The title comes from the Hopi word “koyaansquatsi,” which translates to “life out of balance.” The images are drawn from decades of discarded remnants of mass produced magazines, brought together to create a unified image.
